The present invention relates to in general a cooling of an internal combustion engine, in particular in the case of a motor vehicle, as well as in particular an expansion tank for a coolant for a cooling circuit, in particular for a low-temperature circuit for indirect charge-air cooling for an internal combustion engine, a cooling circuit, in particular a low-temperature circuit for indirect charge-air cooling for an internal combustion engine, as well as a method for cooling a hot component, in particular of an internal combustion engine.It is provided according to the invention, the expansion tank to integrate in the main cooling circuit, wherein for this purpose, a coolant to the equalizing reservoir directly guiding means between an inlet - and outlet pipe is arranged, by means of which a coolant part stream of a flow of coolant flowing into the equalizing reservoir directly from the inlet - flows to the outlet port.
