The source has a resonator (1) made of superconducting material, and a coupler cell (3) arranged with a coaxial conductor (4), which is attached outside the resonator on the cathode side in direct proximity of the resonator. A cathode (2) is inserted in such a manner that it is electrically and thermally isolated by an vacuum gap of the resonator and is cooled with liquid nitrogen.
