The method involves applying a pulsed high frequency magnetic field to a metallic component. Temperature distribution that is caused by eddy currents (2) during application of the magnetic field to the component is acquired. A high frequency generator and a coreless coil are utilized for the production of the high frequency magnetic field, where the generator is operated with a frequency ranging from 50 to 200 kilo hertz.
