Corrugating roll (1,2) for corrugation of a material strip (4), e.g. paper and/or cardboard with a roll body (10;20) rotating on axis (A;B) and having a profiled surface (11;21), first coating (14;24) on the profiled surface and second coating (15;25) on the axial edge region of the profiled surface which is deposited on the first coating. Independent claims are included for: (1) a corrugation unit for corrugating a material strip as described above; (2) a corrugated cardboard machine.
