Metal structure (1) comprises a front shell (3) and a rear shell (2) made from thin sheet steel provided with thickened areas (14) in the region of mounting points. Preferred Features: The thin sheet steel has a thickness of 0.4-0.6 mm, preferably 0.5 mm, and 2.0-3.0 mm, preferably 2.5 mm, in the region of the thickened regions. The thickened regions are produced by applying reinforcing sheets (13) on the front shell and/or rear shell, especially by laser welding.
