The method involves providing data, which is transmitted with QAM-modulated signals for error protection by cyclic block codes. The codes are used for correction of several errors during the transmission in man-home metrics. An error position and error values are computed using the codes. The computation of the error position and the errors values is traced back, so that the errors can be corrected.
