The device has a pointer (12) with a hub (11) and a radial vane (13) stepwise driven by a reversible pointer drive. A drive cam (8) with a circular section is mounted on a cam axis (3) driven rotationally by the pointer drive and its longitudinal axis is parallel to the cam axle. The drive cam protrudes into a drive chamber (10) of the same cross-section formed in the pointer near the hub.
