The method is for the production of current in plants which through condensation on cooled heat exchange surfaces water is extracted from the air (1). The heat energy released during the cooling of the air and the condensation of the water vapour drives a cyclic process for the production of current. The energy is produced from the waste heat of the plant for the extracting of water from air. An independent claim is included for a device with a mechanical compressor for the compressing of water vapour.
