The present invention relates to a mathematical editor and an editing method of document editing software, comprising the steps of selecting a textual mathematical symbol to be described on a document, and inputting numbers or characters in a suitable arrangement according to the type of the textual mathematical symbol. And detecting location information of the mathematical symbol and the input numeral or character when the input is completed, and generating location data including location information of each text constituting the mathematical expression. In addition, the textual symbols and numbers or letters constituting the textual equations on the document being edited are placed and displayed according to the positioning data, and the positioning data is in the form of empty characters. It is composed of the steps displayed on the left or right side of the equation. By such a configuration, the present invention has an effect of preventing an error or an incorrect expression from being generated in the process of converting a mathematical expression into a text, not an image, into another file.
