Bulk materials for implants made from hydrothermal conversion of bulk calcium carbonate materials with desired initial structures in order to utilize the mechanical and structural properties of the initial structures. Dense sea-shells, light-weighted sea urchin spines and strong marine bones such as cuttlebones are examples of bulk calcium carbonate materials with desired initial structures for producing various implants.
