The method for the surgical treatment of the giant ventral and postoperative hernias complicated by intraperitoneal purulent processes comprises the dissection of the hernial sac, the opening of the aponeurosis of the rectus muscles of abdomen, the sewing of the posterior layeres of the aponeurosis of the rectus muscles of abdomen, and the implantation of the synthetic prosthesis. The fibrously altered hernial sac is cut along its middle line without dissection producing two flaps. One flap is sewed up along the perimeter of the hernial gates on the side of the peritoneum, the second flap is sewed above as a duplicature.
