"RECYCLING PROCESS OF SOLID CURUMUM WASTE BY CHROME EXTRACTION AND DECONTAINED LEATHER RECOVERY". The present invention is characterized by the extraction of chromium (III) present in sawdust, flaps and shavings of chrome-tanned leather resulting from the process of lowering the leather. Another important aspect of this invention is to obtain, with the extraction of chromium, a collagen-rich solid that can be used in the food, glue or fertilizer industry. This solid, now without chromium, also showed high removal capacity of organic and inorganic substances from aqueous effluents and other media. The innovative aspect of this chrome extraction process from tannery solid waste is the fact that a low cost complexing agent and soft extraction conditions were used, avoiding the dissolution of the solid that could also be recycled. In addition, the compound formed by chromium and complexing agent (Cr (III) -complexing) was separated by the addition of sulfuric acid which allowed the regeneration of the complexing agent and chromium sulfate which can be reused in the tanning process.
