PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a security management system for a personal computer capable of preventing at a low cost leakage of information generated from the personal computer taken out without an authorization and allowing management by its network management section; and to provide a security management method for the personal computer. PSOLUTION: The security management system for the personal computer controls log-on authentication by means of a router. The router 2 comprises: a storage means previously storing an address on a personal computer 1 basis and its password; and a log-on authentication means determining the propriety of log-on for the personal computer 1 by referring to the storage means when a log-on authentication request arises from the personal computer. The personal computer 1 transmits the password to the router 2. The log-on authentication means determines the transmitted password.
