PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply and quickly measure burnup of a spent fuel. PSOLUTION: A radiation detecting means 20 consists of a dose rate meter 24 and a fast neutron detecting means 22. Two radiation detecting means 20 are fixed on a rack 26 and arranged opposing to a canal part 38. They are arranged in a manner to be approximately in the center in the longitudinal direction of a spent fuel 30. While the spent fuel 30 passes through the radiation detecting means 20, fast neutron and ray are measured from both sides of the spent fuel 30. Using the geometrical mean of the measured fast neutron discrete values and that of the measured gross dose rates, burnup of the spent fuel 30 is calculated. PCOPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
