PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To evaluate a color shift among plane-sequential images or among images of triple plate type imaging devices according to a novel evaluation value that is frequency of generation of an imaginary color, and to correct the color shift among the images based on a result of the evaluation. PSOLUTION: The frequency of generation of an imaginary color is used as an evaluation value for evaluating a relative color shift that occurs among planes of RGB image data. Namely, the number of pixels to be the imaginary color incurred in one picture is calculated by discriminating whether or not the color of each pixel of image data is the imaginary color for each pixel (step S20). The number of pixels in the imaginary color is then calculated for all position shift patterns of RGB planes (steps S10-S40), a position shift among the planes is found from a position shift pattern when the number of pixels in the imaginary color becomes minimum, and the position shift (color shift) of RGB image data is corrected based on the position shift (step S50).
