PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for treating garbage waste water wherein maintenance and controlling are simple and inexpensively performed, and the whole apparatus has a compact structure. SOLUTION: After inorg. solid substances are removed from the system by equipping a sand basin 11 for separating the inorg. solid substances included in garbage waste water, org. solid substances and soluble pollutants included in the treating waste water are independently treated in an aerobic digestion tank 13 and a waste water treating tank (a contact aeration tank 14) to make the vol. of each treating tank and agitation power appropriate. In addition, an agitation means 15 is disposed in the aerobic digestion tank 13 and the treating water is always agitated to improve decomposition action of the solid substances.
