PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ground bearing capacity testing apparatus which can easily measure the settlement of the ground with high accuracy, and to provide a ground bearing capacity testing method.;SOLUTION: The ground bearing capacity testing apparatus is comprised of a ground bearing capacity testing apparatus main body 1A, a measuring device 11, and an immovable beam 41. The ground bearing capacity testing apparatus main body 1A is formed of essential component members including an intermediate cylinder body 2 detachably mountable on a moving body D; an expandable strut 5 arranged on the intermediate cylinder body 2, having an upper portion thereof located close to a ceiling slab B, and including an abutting tool arranged on a head thereof, for rotatably pressing the ceiling slab B; a pressure sensor 9 and a loading jack 8 arranged in a lower cylinder body 7 below the intermediate cylinder body 2; and a loading plate 10 mountable on a testing ground section G' onto which a rod of the loading jack 8 is pressed. The measuring device 11 is arranged outside the apparatus main body 1A. The immovable beam 41 is set on the ground G in a manner being separated from and without contact with the ground bearing capacity testing apparatus main body 1A.
