PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inspection method for simply finding the breakage rate of a ZrC layer so far hard to find, as to coated fuel particles for a high-temperature gas reactor with the ZrC layer formed as a third coating layer. PSOLUTION: This ZrC layer breakage rate inspection method on the coated fuel particles for a high-temperature gas reactor is equipped with: a process for press-forming or mold-forming a plurality of coated fuel particles together with a parent material comprising graphite material into prescribed shapes, then baking them into a fuel compact or pebbles, heating the fuel compact or pebbles in a hydrogen atmosphere to vaporize carbon content, thereby acquiring particles under test with the third coating layer exposed; a process for boiling the particles under test in nitric acid liquid for a previously determined time period; and a process for determining the quantity of uranium having transuded in the acid liquid by a chemical analysis method after the boiling process.
