PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To upgrade a transmission rate of an existing optical fiber local area network (LAN) without necessity of exchange of an optical fiber network.;SOLUTION: This invention is related with the method of using of the optical fiber local area network which makes a data communication enable. This method comprises a step providing a strength modulated light signal on a fiber of the optical fiber network by a transmitting unit, and a step which receives the strength modulated light signal by a receiving unit connected to the fiber. Strength of the strength modulated light signal is modulated so that a bit rate of at least 30 Gbps is provided to a data communication. Light which provides the strength modulated light signal has a wavelength of 1,200 to 1,400 nm. This invention is related also with the method of fitting to a data communication in bit rates of which 10-gigabit Ethernet (R) optical fiber LAN exceeds 30Gbps.
