Still or moving picture block`s improperly decoded data quantity determining method, involves determining data quantity of block predicted based on prediction and improperly decoded data block using error propagation coefficient
The method involves determining quantity of non-predicted data and improperly decoded data of an image block. Data quantity of the block predicted based on a prediction and improperly decoded data block is determined using a formula involving parameters of improperly decoded data quantity of the latter block and error propagation coefficient. The improperly decoded data quantities are summed to find total quantity in the former block. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) a device for determining the improperly decoded data quantity of an image (B) a computer program comprising program instructions for executing the method of determining improperly decoded data quantity.
