The apparatus has a storage unit that temporarily and continuously stores video data delivered by a video camera (12a). A selection unit selects a particular video sequence that is temporarily stored in the former storage unit, where the particular video sequence starts a minute before and terminates a minute after the actuation of an alert device. Another storage unit permanently stores the selected video sequence. An independent claim is also included for a method of recording multimedia data.
