Electromechanical brake caliper application force estimating method for e.g. lorry, involves detecting switching of switch around threshold, and estimating application force from motor shaft displacement using calibration relation
The method involves detecting switching of an application force switch around a threshold, and acquiring one rotation angle as a reference angle. A relative displacement of a motor shaft is calculated as a difference between the reference angle and another rotation angle, by a controller (50). An application force is estimated from the displacement, using calibration relation linking the force and displacement. The switch is in a lower state when the application force is lower to the threshold, and is in an upper state when the application force is higher than that of the threshold. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) a device for implementing a method of estimating force applied on an electromechanical brake caliper (b) a motor vehicle having a hybrid braking system constituted of multiple hydraulic calipers.
