This tyre inflating station has a wheel support (16) on which the disc of the wheel (18) is laid and automatically centred by a first centring unit (26). Upper and lower filler bells (30,40) are brought into contact with the walls of the tyre (24) which are lifted from the wheel rim edges. The filler bells (30,40) are filled with compressed air, which enters the tyre (24) via the tyre wall edges. The upper and lower filler bells (30,40) are then removed from the walls of the inflated tyre allowing the edges to seal to the wheel rim.
