The device has a drum (1) containing blind-drilled holes (11) extending in the axial direction of the drum, the bottom of the hole being partly open so that the long arm (31) of a key can either rest on a ledge at the bottom of the hole or drop down into a channel (12) below which presents an open side in the drum mantle. The short arm (32) is held against a cap (2) containing axial bores for the long arms in positions aligned with the blind-drilled holes. An independent claim is also included for a second storage device comprising the above drum and a sleeve. The drum for this device has bores for holding tool bits at the opposite end to the blind-drilled holes. The sleeve has a polygonal cross-section hole at both ends and one of the holes contains a magnet for holding a tool bit and an Allen key inside the two holes so that the key can act as a handle for the tool bit, which is preferably a screwdriver bit.
