The drive has a lock case (28) with axially movable flat band rods (14, 16) whose axles are arranged perpendicular to each other. Pinions (30, 32) are swivellably pivoted between the rods, where the pinions intermeshes with a third pinion (34). Teeth in the pinions intermesh with corresponding perforations in the rods. A square socket wrench (36) that is operable from inside/outside of a cabinet door is provided in the third pinion. An independent claim is also included for a sheet metal cabinet comprising a door leaf, a frame and a flat band rod drive.
