The confidentiality protection method uses coding and decoding of the information elements of the lightweight directory access protocol, effected by reception of a lightweight directory access protocol search request containing clear text elements and/or home text elements, decoding of the home text elements into clear text, conversion of the lightweight directory access protocol search request into a directory service and coding of elements of the lightweight directory access protocol response information into a home text. An independent claim for a system for responding to lightweight directory access protocol search requests is also included.
