Method for processing rainwater comprises filtering collected rainwater, collecting in a collecting vessel and conveying to a water supply installation when required. Filtering is carried out by removing impurities into an upper sediment (19) consisting of organic impurities and a middle sediment (20) consisting of inorganic and organic impurities. The organic impurities from the upper sediment and the middle sediment are decomposed biologically into water-soluble materials by adding oxygen and are mixed with impurity-free rainwater. An independent claim is also included for a rainwater treatment installation. Preferred Features: The collected rainwater is allowed to settle to improve sedimentation. Rainwater purified by sedimentation is coarsely filtered and the filtered impurities are likewise sedimented.
