Local network for communication between telephone and IP subscribers, uses IP-telecom devices to register IP subscribers and set up communication with telecom subscribers at local rate
IP-telecom devices (10, 12) are coupled to circuit-switched nodes (130, 140) of the local network (1) in order to set up connections between telecom subscribers (20 - 50) and IP subscribers (60 - 110). The telecom subscribers are coupled to the circuit-switched network nodes (130, 140) and the IP subscribers to an IP network (240), e.g. Internet. As soon as IP subscribers access Internet anywhere in the world and register with a relevant local network IP-telecom device (10, 12), they can communicate with telecom subscribers worldwide at a local rate. As IP subscribers mobile telephone subscribers can log in to the IP network or Internet via a wireless LAN interface. An independent claim is also included for a method of setting up the connection within the network.
