Solvent-free, continuous production of acrylate polymer-modified polyester resin, for use e.g. as binder in coatings, adhesives or inks, by polymerizing acrylate monomers in presence of polyester, e.g. in extruder
Solvent-free, continuous production of polymer-modified resins (A), by reacting hydroxy- and/or carboxy-functional, (semi)crystalline and/or amorphous polyester(s) (I) and hydroxy- and/or carboxy-functional polyacrylate(s) (II), involves radical polymerization of the starting material(s) for (II) in the absence of organic solvents in presence of (I) in a brief reaction under thorough mixing in an extruder, intensive mixer, intensive kneader or static mixer, followed by isolation of (A) by cooling. An independent claim is included for the resins (A) obtained by the process.
