Electrical machine testing method, especially for testing a generator (14) connected to a battery (13) and a control unit (15) in a motor vehicle power network and driven by a combustion engine (10). With the generator stationary, the current through the generator is measured both with an excitation current switched on and switched off. The measured current values are compared to determine the generators efficiency.
