Secure database backup method for use in a heterogeneous computing environment involves determination of database server types, preparation of a snapshot backup according to server types and execution of the backup
Method for producing a secure copy of a multiplicity of computer system databases stored in database servers (dbA-dbD) has the following steps: identification of the database servers managing the databases, determination of the types of the database servers, preparation for a snapshot backup based on the database type and corresponding operating system for the database servers and implementation of a snapshot backup for each database server. The invention also relates to a corresponding computer program and device for implementation of the inventive method.
