Method for soft-decoding of code words (C1', C2', C3') containing multiple bits in a data transmission system with multiple channels (CH1-CHN), whereby: code word bits are each assigned an interference value and/or a trust value; for each code word a multiple channel dependent normal distribution of the interference values is determined, with each channel dependent normal distribution dependent on the channel transmission quality. The bits of the decoded code words are calculated based on the soft-criterion of the interference values. Independent claims are also included for the following; (1) decoder unit; (2) transmission system; (3) computer program product.
