Computer network management and public key administration, whereby a public key certificate is automatically distributed if a time interval between initializing and requirement times is less than a maximum allowable time
Method for distributing a certificate (7) for a public key to a managed node in a computer network in which a requirement for distribution of the certificate is received by a certificate server. It is then checked whether an initializing requirement time interval between an initializing time of the managed node and a requirement time, that is assigned to the distribution requirement, lies within a maximum valve for automatic certificate distribution. The required certificate is automatically distributed if the time interval is within the maximum allowable time interval value. Independent claims are also included for the following:- (a) a method for setting-up a management agent; (b) a method for implementing management communication between management elements in an IT network; (c) a managed IT network; (d) a further managed IT network; (e) a computer program for distributing public key certificates; (f) a computer program for implementing cryptography with management agents and; (g) a computer program for implementing management communication in an IT network.
