A method for transmission of information in a data stream of a synthetic aperture radar (SAR) by means of an active transponder, which is impressed with a modulation of reply pulses triggered by SAR. A protected information is inserted between two synchronization sequences and is compiled from a character store in the transponder and then amplified and transmitted back to the SAR-system. An independent claim is included for a transponder for the method.
