The method involves the firer ensuring constant aiming point speed so the aiming point catches and passes the target along its flight path and starting to decide re firing when the aiming point and target coincide. It involves measuring the distance between the shell and the target as the shell crosses the target's path and computing the delay from the distance, the speed of the target, the flight time to the target and the displacement of the round as a result of the movement of the weapon. An independent claim is also included for a firing method with a constant critical point speed.
