The first embodiment is an application server autonomous access (ASAA) server. Network service identifier circuit is configured to identify the available network service to a wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU). The reception circuit is configured to receive a request to communicate with the WTRU. Network identifier circuit is configured to identify an access network to a WTRU communication and determine a preferred access network. Paging mechanism is configured to transmit a paging the WTRU over the identified radio access network. The routing device is configured to route the communication from the WTRU to / via the preferred access network.; The second embodiment is a WTRU operating with the ASAA server. Circuit building radio frequency (RF) link between the one of the plurality of access networks. The data processing circuit is configured to process data to / from the access network. ASAA combining circuit is configured to provide a communication link to the ASAA server.
