A method of harvesting algae using an apparatus for collecting a floating algal clump is provided which can maximally activate the characteristics of algae and massively recover the algal clump while conserving physical properties and is environmentally friendly. The algae such as Spirulina can be used as health supplementary food, feed additives and medical raw materials. The apparatus for collecting a floating algal clump consists of: a lower part(1) of an inlet port(4) which is floated beneath the water's surface; an upper part(2) of an inlet port which is integrally formed with the lower part and protruded above the water's surface; an on/off screw(5) of the inlet port which is installed above the inlet port to open and close the entrance manually according to the dispersion state of the floating algal clump entering through the inlet port; a buoyancy control screw(3) which is connected to the upper and lower part of the inlet port to control the size of the inlet port by controlling the height according to the size of the floating algal clump; and a pump(6) which is connected to the rear end of the apparatus to allow entering of the floating algal clump through the inlet port.
