摘要

PURPOSE: A polymer photonic crystal slab waveguide structure with profitable coupling to optical fibers and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to reduce manufacturing cost by forming the polymer photonic crystal slab waveguide using nano-embossing technique. CONSTITUTION: A polymer photonic crystal slab(51) forms a two dimensional photonic stripe lattice arrangement by using plural air holes(54). A cladding layer(52) is formed on a lower portion of the photonic crystal slab to provide an air layer to the air holes. A substrate(40) includes a groove(41) to be coupled with an optical fiber(60) corresponding to the air layer. The substrate is formed under the cladding layer. The air holes are formed by using a nano-embossing technique.
