PURPOSE: To provide a method for preparing apatite powder having various shapes, sizes and specific surface areas by controlling reaction temperature and drying conditions. CONSTITUTION: The method for preparing apatite powder comprises steps of: preparing a mixed aqueous solution comprising calcium salt and phosphate; producing an intermediate reaction product having a phase different from that of the apatite by reacting calcium salt with phosphate in the aqueous solution; aging the aqueous solution to synthesize apatite powder from the intermediate reaction product; and drying a slurry precipitated in the aqueous solution, wherein the intermediate reaction product is dicalcium phosphate dihydrate, wherein the calcium salt is calcium hydroxide, and the phosphate is phosphoric acid, wherein the aging step is performed at a temperature of 5 to 90 deg.C, and wherein the apatite powder is formed in a lamella particle shape.
