The object of the invention is to provide a method for controlling an optical control device for using the light control device at an inexpensive cost in a simple constitution. The method for controlling the optical control device, which has a transparent electrode, an electric conductivity variable part, a drive electrode and a movable part, includes: a control light supply step for making control light of constant intensity incident on the transparent electrode; a modulation voltage supply step for applying voltage modulated between the transparent electrode and the movable part in response to an input signal; and a moving step for making the control light on the transparent electrode, generating force in response to modulated voltage between the drive electrode and the movable part by changing electric conductivity of the electric conductivity variable part, and moving the movable part to a prescribed position.
