ANTI-HYPERCHOLESTEROLEMIA COMPOSITION COMPRISING EXTRACTS ISOLATED FROM PLANTS WHICH IMPROVE EXPRESSION OF LXR, ABCA1, ABCG5 AND ABCG8, AND REDUCE EXPRESSION OF ACAT2
PURPOSE: An anti-hypercholesterolemia composition comprising extracts isolated from plants is provided, which composition improves LXR expression to prevent arteriosclerosis, ABCG5 expression to increase cholesterol discharge from the liver and intestines, and ABCA1 expression to induce reverse-transportation of cholesterol, thus increasing high density lipidprotein concentration in blood, and reduces ACAT2 expression to reduce cholesterol absorption in intestines or cholesterol transportation from liver to blood. CONSTITUTION: The anti-hypercholesterolemia composition comprises extracts isolated from plants consisting of Alnus rubra Bong, Acanthopanax sessiliflorus SEEM., Inonotus obliquus and optionally Astragalus membranaceus Bunge, wherein the extracts are obtained by using distilled water or organic solvent selected from alcohol, hexane, chloroform and ethylacetate; and the plant extracts improve expression of LXR, ABCA1, ABCG5 and ABCG8, and reduce expression of ACAT2.
