PURPOSE: An excavation method for a 2-arch tunnel is provided to support the center where the load of a tunnel is concentrated by removing a drainage layer of the existing tunnel and adhering closely to the ground by grouting, to drain off infiltration effectively and to prevent a water leakage of the existing tunnel by installing continuously together with the tunnel lining. CONSTITUTION: The excavation method for a 2-arch tunnel comprises the steps of: excavating the upper part of a center tunnel; excavating the lower part of a center tunnel; forming an intermediate wall(20) by assembling reinforcing bars and placing concrete, and grouting an upper gap of the intermediate wall(20); excavating the upper part of a left main tunnel; excavating the upper part of a right main tunnel; excavating the lower part of the left main tunnel; excavating the lower part of the right main tunnel; and forming a low point on both sides of the intermediate wall(20) to gather water, and installing a drain ditch(85) on a construction joint of the intermediate wall(20) to function as an expansion joint, so that the water gathered in the lower point by non-woven fabrics(50) and waterproof cloth(60) installed on the intermediate wall(20) enables to drain off through a perforated drainpipe(80) and a drain ditch(85) smoothly.
