PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus are provided to deposit an optical fiber preform by using a sound wave, which activates a flow of a deposition gas to a quartz tube or a quartz stick, therefore improves a deposition efficiency and a deposition velocity. CONSTITUTION: The deposition method for producing the optical fiber preform by a modified chemical vapor deposition(MCVD) contains the steps of: injecting the deposition gas into the quartz tube(10); applying the sound wave to the deposition gas to activate the flow of the deposition gas to the inner wall of the quartz tube(10), wherein the sound wave has a frequency of less than 5kHz. And the deposition apparatus contains a means(14) for generating the sound wave.
