PURPOSE: An apparatus for controlling a projection or pointer function of a mobile communication terminal and a method thereof are provided to realize a laser pointer function for emitting laser and a projector function for projecting contents on a main screen of a mobile communication terminal to a large screen, thereby conveniently and usefully proceeding with presentation in a lecture or seminar. CONSTITUTION: A laser pointer(120) has a laser emitting diode at an upper end antenna(110) of a mobile communication terminal(100). A projector(140) is installed at an upper end of the mobile communication terminal(100). A selection switch(150) is installed at one side of the mobile communication terminal(100) to turn on and off the laser emitting diode, and selects conversion into a laser pointer mode or projection mode of the mobile communication terminal(100). The first and second slide movement switches(160,170) select a material slide of a main picture of the mobile communication terminal(100) when the mobile communication terminal(100) presents data in the projection mode, or control backward and forward movement of the slide. A battery power supply part supplies driving power to the laser pointer(120) and the projector(140) of the mobile communication terminal(100).
