PURPOSE: A system for monitoring discharge of stack gas of a complex thermal power plant and a method thereof are provided to monitor exhaust gas efficiently by investigating and analyzing components of exhaust gas discharged through stacks corresponding to the operation condition of the power plant with a multi-channel analyzer. CONSTITUTION: A stack gas discharge monitoring system of a complex thermal power plant is composed of a damper position detecting unit(21) transmitting the damper position signal by detecting the position of a diverter damper placed between a bypass stack and a main stack of the complex thermal power plant, a stack gas selecting unit(22) automatically selecting a stack gas extract unit passing exhaust gas according to the damper position signal from the damper position detecting unit, and a multi-channel analyzer(23) analyzing components of exhaust gas from the stack gas extract unit selected by the stack gas selecting unit and transmitting the result to the damper gain module.
