PURPOSE: An air cleaning and sterilizing apparatus is provided to certainly sterilize the virus and bacteria, etc., contained in the air, and to remove the odor therein by contacting the air with a photo-catalytic chip, and to remove the odor, so as to purify the air. CONSTITUTION: The air cleaning and sterilizing apparatus includes: a suction fan motor, arranged on one side of a processor unit(20) of a body housing(10) so that an indoor air is forcibly sucked through an air inlet of a body cover; a quartz tube(24), arranged in an up- and downward zigzag manner in relation to the processor unit which is located between the suction fan motor and a cleaned-air outlet(16), and having an ultraviolet lamp(26) within; a photo-catalytic chip, filled in the space around the quartz tube(24); a photo-catalytic chip separation plate(22), having many porous holes penetrated therein; and a stabilizer, stably operating the ultraviolet lamp(26) for a long time.
