PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOSITION AND HEALTH SUPPLEMENTARY FOOD CONTAINING QUERCETIN-3-O--D-GLUCURONIDE ISOLATED FROM LEAF OF RUMEX AQUATICUS TO PREVENT AND TREAT INFLAMMATION AND ULCER OF GASTROINTESTINAL TRACT AND REFLUX ESOPHAGITIS
PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOSITION AND HEALTH SUPPLEMENTARY FOOD CONTAINING QUERCETIN-3-O--D-GLUCURONIDE ISOLATED FROM LEAF OF RUMEX AQUATICUS TO PREVENT AND TREAT INFLAMMATION AND ULCER OF GASTROINTESTINAL TRACT AND REFLUX ESOPHAGITIS
PURPOSE: A method of isolating quercetin-3-o--D-glucuronide(QGC) isolated from a leaf of Rumex aquaticus is provided. A pharmaceutical composition and a health supplementary food containing quercetin-3-o--D-glucuronide can be effectively used in inflammation and ulcer of gastrointestinal tract and reflux esophagitis. CONSTITUTION: The pharmaceutical composition for treatment of gastritis and reflux esophagitis contains 0.5 to 50% by weight of quercetin-3-o--D-glucuronide, based on the total weight of the composition. An effective dosage of the composition ranges from 0.1 to 500mg per kg body weight. The health supplementary food contains 0.1 to 15% by weight of quercetin-3-o--D-glucuronide. The quercetin-3-o--D-glucuronide from a leaf of Rumex aquaticus is isolated by the steps of: extracting Rumex aquaticus in a lower alcohol solvent and its mixed solvent such as water, methanol or ethanol; dissolving the extract in distilled water; filtering into a water-soluble part and a water-insoluble part; defatting the water-insoluble part with a nonpolar organic solvent such as chloroform, ether or methylene chloride; removing the nonpolar organic solvent from the water-soluble part and followed by column chromatography; and removing sugars and inorganic salt with distilled water to give flavonoid.
