PURPOSE: A rotary compressor is provided to enable compression in clockwise and counterclockwise rotation of a driving shaft, to vary compression capacity, and to smoothly supply oil required for the driving of the compressor in a compression process. CONSTITUTION: A rotary compressor comprises a driving shaft(13) rotating in clockwise and counterclockwise directions and having an eccentric part(13a); a cylinder(21) having a predetermined inner volume; a roller(22) rolling along the inner peripheral surface of the cylinder and constituting a fluid chamber(29) for the suction and compression of a fluid together with the inner peripheral surface; a vane electrically installed to the cylinder to continuously come in contact with the roller; plural discharge ports(26a,26b) communicating with the fluid chamber; an upper bearing(24) rotatably supporting the upper part of the driving shaft; a lower bearing(25) rotatably supporting the lower part of the driving shaft and having plural suction ports(27a,27b); a suction plenum(200) fixed to the lower part of the lower bearing, to receive a fluid to be compressed from the outside and temporarily storing the fluid; a rotating valve(110) rotatably installed between the cylinder and the lower bearing; and a fixed valve(120) fixed to the upper part of the lower bearing, to guide rotation of the rotating valve. Plural openings(111,112) for selectively opening and shutting the suction ports are formed to the rotating valve, in size larger than each suction port of the lower bearing.
