A mobile communication terminal (1) through which communication can be made in accordance with both GSM (Global System for Mobile communication) and W-CDMA (Wideband-Code Division Multiple Access) includes a controller (101) which, on receipt of a signal indicating that a W-CDMA call has been made thereto during a GSM stand-by mode for waiting for a GSM call, switches the GSM stand-by mode to a W-CDMA stand-by mode for waiting for a W-CDMA call.
