Procedure for the biomethanization of urban solid waste, and installation for the implementation of said procedure. The procedure is characterized in that the organic fraction of said waste receives a wet pretreatment, followed by the anaerobic digestion operation, continuing with the dehydration of the digested residue and with the storage of the biogas. The organic fraction before digestion is screened and sedimented to separate the impurities, and the digested suspension is then dehydrated in a centrifuge separating into a solid fraction and a liquid one. The installation basically comprises a feeder for the wet treatment equipment, a mechanical system for separating impurities, means for passing the suspension from a tank to the digester, a gasometer, a heat exchanger that preheats the suspension at its entrance to the digester, and a dehydration system comprising a centrifugal moon that separates the suspension into a solid and a liquid fraction.
